Senior school

Year 11 - 12

The senior curriculum aims to:

  • offer a strong academic pathway for students who are tertiary bound
  • offer all students a pathway to success
  • offer diverse pathways for all students to gain their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
  • increase the number of students completing Year 12.

The senior school curriculum is flexible enough to allow students to undertake a course to study leading to multiple career pathways. Attaining an Overall Position (OP/Selection Rank) is only one pathway. Many students who chose to attain an OP also undertake nationally-recognised vocational certificates, and/or complete a school-based traineeship/apprenticeship.

In Years 11 and 12 students study six subjects. In addition to an English subject and a Mathematics subject, students choose four more subjects from a large range of subjects. Students may study Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority subjects or select from a range of authority-registered subjects. The former subjects may contribute towards an OP, whereas the latter do not.

Our school community considers it very important that student’s graduate from our school with a worthwhile qualification, as well as a range of personal and employment skills and attributes that we help them develop. Therefore our senior curriculum is geared toward rigorous study and it is complemented by a range of opportunities for students to broaden their experiences.
