Moving to high school is a major milestone in your child’s life. To ensure your child has a smooth transition into their next phase of learning, Runcorn State High School begins this process in Term 4 of Yr6, while they are still attending primary school.
Applications for enrolment close at the end of Term 3. Approved applicants then must attend the following appointments:
1. A Parent Information Session on Monday 11 November from 6:30pm – 7:30pm in our Performing Arts Centre. It is essential for all parents to attend. Students are also very welcome to attend. You will book your enrolment interview time with your student’s Special Programs Teacher at the end of this session.
2. Transition Day is Monday 25 November 8:45am – 2:50pm. On this day, students attend Runcorn State High School instead of their primary school. Students wear their primary school uniform and bring a hat, drink bottle, lunch/lunch money, pen and notebook. Students can be dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon from the Sports Hall. This is always a great experience for the students and they will not want to miss out!!
3. Personal Enrolment Interviews will be held in the Learning Centre on the Mon 2 December and Tuesday 3 December. Both student and parent/s must attend this interview. This is where you will meet your child’s key teacher for the first time and as well as signing official paperwork, you will have the opportunity to discuss any medical information or special learning considerations for your child. Enrolment at school cannot commence until you have had an enrolment interview.
4. Students with a disability who have been through the verification process, may benefit from our gradual entry program. Once student’s enrolment has approved, Stacy Edwards our Head of Special Education Services will connect with parents to make any necessary arrangements.
