P & C PDF Print E-mail
As our children begin and work through high school, we as parents, usually find increasing demands on our time. Sometimes, the only contact with the school is from the monthly newsletters. Primary school students love the ideas that their parents come to school and participate in their school life.

Teenagers however, would prefer that their parents never set foot in the school grounds; let alone participate in their school life. Never-the-less parents of teenagers can still play an active role in their student’s life at school by becoming members of the P & C.

The P & C have initiated a Family Contribution scheme requesting $30.00 from each family each year so that continual fundraising is not necessary. All Family Contributions are paid into a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) fund to provide maintenance for school buildings and other building projects. Through this fund, the P & C would be able to offer parents a tax deduction for all monies donated to the P & C. Without this involvement from our families the P & C is unable to continue to offer the extras which are not provided by Education Queensland to enhance the educational opportunities for our students.

Our other major efforts lie with the bookshop/uniform shop and canteen. Our bookshop/uniform shop is open Monday, Wednesday & Friday mornings from 8.15am to 11.15am to provide the students with basic stationery and uniforms at a reasonable cost. Winter uniforms need to be ordered and paid for by the end of March of each year so that the stock is available when the cold weather arrives.

Without the tireless efforts of our canteen staff, our students would not be able to buy a variety of good quality food at a reasonable price. The school is committed to the "Smart Choices - helathy food program. To make this possible, we need the assistance of parent helpers. I would encourage any parent or friends with a few hours to spare to volunteer to join the canteen staff and get to know the school a little better.

The P & C at Runcorn High extends an invitation to all parents, family and friends to join us at our monthly meetings to exchange ideas and to get to know your school and its people. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30 p.m. in the Social Science building.
