The Chaplaincy Service at Runcorn is conducted by the "Scripture Union" of Qld, in conjunction with the School and various supporting churches in the local area. The Chaplain is a qualified, experienced and registered teacher with additional training in theology, counselling and pastoral care. The role of Chaplain provides an additional dimension to the school’s Pastoral Care Program and Guidance & Counselling Services. This contribution will focus on student’s spiritual, ethical and religious needs and any problems arising from these. The Chaplain works closely with the school’s Pastoral Care and Counselling staff. While modelling a particular religious stance and lifestyle (Christian), other spiritual and ethical insights are recognised by the Chaplain. Therefore Chaplaincy services are available to all students without any implications of deliberately seeking to win students from one denomination to another, or from one religion or set of beliefs to another.
Parents must provide written consent if their students are to undertake religious instruction activities from the Chaplain. Students, parents and teachers may make appointments with the Chaplain by contacting the Student Services office, or by calling in at the Chaplain’s office, located in the Student Services Building. Appointments can be made in school time or during recesses. For further information please contact the Chaplin - Mr. Les Gomes |
