Year 11 and 12 students are able to begin studying TAFE courses as part of their senior program. These courses are offered one day per week and are delivered at the TAFE campus by TAFE teachers. These programs are called “Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Schools.

This is an excellent pathway for students who:

All TAFE courses will contribute credits towards the students Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).

TAFE courses do have a small fee to cover materials but tuition is heavily subsidised by the Government. The subsidy only applies for TAFE courses studied while at school. This can result in the saving of thousands of dollars. Fees are paid directly to TAFE to confirm enrolment when a place is offered.

Students who nominate to study at TAFE must be mature enough to be able to work within the TAFE environment and have a strong desire to succeed. All students who study at TAFE will have their timetable adjusted to accommodate the demands of TAFE, this normally means studying fewer subjects at school.

If you require more details on a course or what is involved in studying at TAFE then please feel free to contact Merv Swords (HOD Senior School) mswor1@eq.edu.au or Ms Lisa Thomas (Guidance Officer) lthom421@eq.edu.au
